Since beginning in robotics, more than four decades ago, Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) has had a strong interest in arc welding and related metals fabrication processes. Kawasaki’s continuous focus to advance manufacturing methods for ships, bridges, trains, recreation vehicles, and off-road equipment, has led to major improvements in arc welding technology, techniques, and quality. Aggressive research and development efforts, including direct working relationships with universities and research institutions throughout the world, has enabled Kawasaki Robotics to become a world leader in robotic welding.

In 1995, a joint development project between KHI and KRI engineers was commissioned to develop an adaptive laser vision arc welding system. The result of this effort was the development of the world’s most powerful fully adaptive robotic arc welding solution . The Kawasaki adaptive laser vision system provides tracking and adaptive control of the welding process, and adjustment for part position and joint variations. With adaptive control of all welding parameters, tracking speeds greater than 10 meters per minute can be attained.

Today, Kawasaki’s Metals Fabrication Group supports applications ranging from single user, basic arc welding applications to laser welding with adaptive vision. Our customers appreciate superior technology, proven reliability, and 24-hour technical assistance. The Metals Fabrication Group continues to expand its product and support capabilities, and strives to meet the demanding requirements of the manufacturing processes of today and the future.
