The increasing demand for high strength aluminum alloys has prompted Kawasaki to develop a new revolutionary method for joining these light weight materials. The FSJ System utilizes a Kawasaki Robot equipped with a dual-servo motor FSJ gun that can be manipulated around a part to spot bond the materials.

A servo driven pin tool is rotated at high-speed and plunged into the surface of the part. The materials are softened and stirred together forming a high-strength bond. The end result is a clean weld that is stronger than one formed by RSW, riveting, or clinching and is far more economical.

The process is entirely controlled via the Kawasaki Robot Controller and requires 1/20 the electrical power as compared to Resistance Spot Welding.
